The Butterfly Effect

March 29,2012

In our interconnected world, sometimes small actions by seemingly insignificant figures can have a big impact (much like the theoretical “butterfly effect” whereby the origins of a hurricane can be traced to a distant butterfly that flaps its wings.) Like that distant butterfly, is it possible for one micropress to trigger positive change in the world? We don’t know for sure, but we’re certainly going to try.

Since we started our journey to make learning to read easier and more fun for kids, we’ve given away a lot of free eBooks to people who have discovered us on Amazon. Most of these people live in the US, but people from the UK, Germany, Italy and France have also downloaded our books.  Those free eBooks helped us get noticed on Amazon so sales of our other eBooks increased.  Now, thanks to our buy one, give one model, those sales have triggered our first batch of donated eBooks to children in the developing world. Children in Kilgoris, Kenya will have Budding Reader eBooks on their eReaders thanks to our awesome non-profit partner, Worldreader.

As Worldreader grows and expands (they aim to reach a million children by 2015), we hope to grow as well because we believe all children need to learn to read. If you agree, please join us on our mission.  Consider liking us on Facebook or following us on Twitter. Help spread the word about our eBooks and our mission. And, if you are so inclined, please connect with us on our website.

All the best,
